The Dutch vessel was on its way to Brest when it lost the use of both its VHF radio and navigation equipment.
St Peter Port's all weather lifeboat was scrambled early this morning (7 January) after radio contact was lost with a yacht in distress.
Channel islands Air Search was also put on standby.
The boat, with three crew, was passing south of Guernsey when it communicated that it had power problems.
The initial call was picked up by the French coastguard who liaised with their Channel Island counterparts.
Contact was lost around an hour later and at this point the RNLI set out towards St Martin's Point.
Here, a radar image was detected and it was established that it was the boat in trouble.
The vessel was escorted into St Peter Port with its crew suffering sea sickness and both VHF radio and navigation equipment failure.
It is the second time the RNLI has been called out in just three days, following a cliff rescue near St Peter Port at the start of the week.
