A new short film features parents of young children living on Alderney explaining why they want the island's airport to be refurbished.
Commissioned by the States of Alderney President, William Tate, the six-minute film discusses the future-proofing of the Island’s transport links, which Guernsey deputies are expected to debate at the end of November.
They support 'Option C+', which involves resurfacing, widening, and extending the runway, as well as building a new terminal and refurbishing the airport fire station.
These developments are expected to cost £24 million.
The film features an estate agent, finance sector workers, a plumber, and other Alderney-based professionals.
They say these improvements will serve future generations, by enabling larger aircraft to operate into the island and prevent Alderney from costing the Bailiwick any more.
Currently, air services from Alderney are subsidised by £2 million a year by the States of Guernsey, under a Public Service Obligation contract.
Alderney airport had to close earlier this week for repairs, after a hole opened up on the runway.
