The lack of an inter-islands ferry is making it difficult for islanders in Jersey to get to Pride 2026 in Guernsey.
The abrupt end to Islands Unlimited's service due to a mechanical failure has left Jersey people scrabbling to find a way to get to Guernsey for Pride on Saturday (12 September).
The San Pawl, which runs multiple inter island sailings per week, has had to be withdrawn from service because of an unforeseen but serious problem with one of its engines.
There are no services by Brittany Ferries between Guernsey and Jersey at the weekend and Aurigny's two flights are sold out.
Pride organiser Ellie Jones says people are trying everything to get across to Guernsey:
"I’ve seen a lot of people asking if there’re any private boats coming across or if anyone’s got friends of friends either flying or sailing across.
"Please reach out on your socials and see if you can bring someone across for the day or the weekend."
Ellie says the charity Wetwheels has helped secure ferry seats for a Jersey choir performing on the main stage:
"We wanted to make sure that we had a local LGBT act from across all of the islands and the LGBT choir from Jersey, the Lavender Menace it would’ve been a shame for them not to be here, so we’re really pleased that we managed to get that to work."
CI Pride begins in Market Square on Saturday morning with a march from the Rainbow Steps to the Bathing Pools where the afternoon and evening's entertainment is focused.
