Storm disruption affects Guernsey travel into the weekend

BA used a larger A320 Neo aircraft to get more passengers to and from Guernsey

Flights were cancelled on Saturday and the Brittany Ferries vessel had to anchor outside St Peter Port for several hours.

British Airways added an extra Heathrow flight yesterday (26 October) to clear a backlog of passengers.

Their Airbus was able to land late on Saturday but winds were too high for ground handling equipment to disembark the relatively small number of passengers, who had to return to Heathrow.

Those waiting in Guernsey were put up overnight and an extra flight yesterday returned things to normal.

High winds on Saturday caused Aurigny to cancel its later flights and the Briitany Ferries Islander ferry was unable to dock in St Peter Port for several hours.

Travel is returning to normal, but there are still air passengers waiting for flights and the Harbours website shows today's high speed ferry sailings are cancelled.
