The roof of Guernsey's upcoming Wildlife Hospital is officially in place.
On the 15th October, a crowd gathered in St Andrew to celebrate with the GSPCA.
After years of fundraising and almost a year of construction work, the roof of the upcoming Wildlife Hospital is officially in place.
Guernsey's Lieutenant General, and GSPCA Patron, Sir Richard Cripwell, cut a ribbon to celebrate the milestone.
Onlookers got to see the full scale of the project, the array of solar panels on the roof, and a special Puffin Weather Vane.
Steve Byrne from the Animal Welfare Charity called the day a tremendous occasion that would not be possible without community support.
"Looking around outside the Wildlife Hospital yesterday felt very much like an episode of DIY SOS.
"There were so many people present who have contributed in one way or another to making this Wildlife Hospital possible.
"From Breton leading the construction, to Norman Piette helping source materials at cost, and the many contractors, suppliers, advisers, volunteers and supporters who have donated time, expertise, goods and services, this project truly belongs to our community.
"Over the coming weeks we look forward to highlighting many of the incredible individuals and organisations that have helped us reach this stage.
"We simply could not have achieved this without them."
The new Wildlife Hospital is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
The team will then start moving specialist equipment in.
The GSPCA has raised enough for construction, but still needs around £3,000 a day to cover its running costs.
