Overseas Aid gives £50,000 to ShelterBox which has deployed to Nepal.

ShelterBox is a Cornwall based charity set up to deliver its well known 'ShelterBoxes' to areas hit by natural disasters.

They provide what is needed to live outdoors when essentials like clean water and power have been knocked out.

Deputy Jennifer Strachan, president of the Overseas Aid & Development Commission, says a £50,000 Disaster and Emergency Relief Award has been approved:

“ShelterBox is a well-established partner of the Commission, having received previous emergency relief funding for humanitarian crises around the world, as well as support through community partnerships with local Rotary clubs in Guernsey.

"The Commission is pleased to support ShelterBox's rapid response efforts, providing emergency shelter and essential household items to affected communities and helping families begin the process of recovery and rebuilding their lives."
