The new book series aims to explain how sensory-sensitive children experience the world.
Guernsey mum Lisa Le Page has created Tommy’s Big Adventures, a 6-book picture series inspired by her five-year-old autistic son.
Tommy attends Le Rondin School and was once non-verbal.
He now talks and enjoys adventures with his family; some of these have made it to print.
In the books, Tommy can be seen with his favourite green tractor going to the pumpkin patch, funfair and big shop.
Alongside the stories are interactive "engine gauges" which are designed to help young kids name their emotions.
Lisa told Island FM she wants others to understand how and why autistic people may experience sensory overload.
"I think there needs to be more education about autism, and how it looks for different people.
"In a noisy or crowded place, they (people with autism) can become overstimulated and react.
"Tommy will scream and shout to express himself.
"I'm hoping that the books will help actually bring awareness to everybody: children, adults, people with and without autism.
"Tommy loves the books; he calls them Tommy's books."
