A last minute flurry of nominations means 11 candidates are standing for a single seat in the Assembly.
Nominations for the 29 April by election opened at Guernsey's Royal Court on Monday (23 March) and closed yesterday afternoon (25 March) at 4.30.
Only three candidates had put their names forward by Wednesday morning, but that changed during the day, with a further eight now contesting the seat in the Assembly left vacant after the imprisonment of disgraced politician Jonathan Le Tocq.
Of the eleven, one is affiliated to a political party.

Several have held the office of deputy before, while others have stood in previous island or parish elections.
The vote will take place on 29 April with the main polling station at Beau Sejour's Sir John Loveridge Hall and smaller polling stations at parish or douzaine rooms in the Vale, Castel and St Martins.
Anyone who voted in the 2025 island-wide election does not need to re-register on the electoral roll, but anyone who is not inscribed has until 25 April with the postal vote deadline 10 April.
There will not be a candidate manifesto booklet as part of a bid by the States to keep the by election affordable at a cost of £75,000 or less.
However, each candidate will be allowed expenses of up to £3,000 to promote themselves.
