New construction charity helps the Guernsey Counselling Service

A £40,000 project to redesign the charity's offices is under way for free, thanks to a new construction partnership.

A new not-for-profit, called Build for Good, has been set up to provide architectural expertise and construction support to Guernsey charities.

It is the brainchild of The Drawing Room architects alongside builders Rihoy & Son and it will assist local charities to transform their premises.

Tom Bourgaize is a director at The Drawing Room:

"We got in touch with Rihoy and Son, we work with them on other projects, and they were really keen to get involved. They're the main contractor that's giving the majority of the effort and funds for the (GCS) project."

The plan is to create an environment that enhances the counselling service offered to islanders from the new premises at Vauxlaurens in St Peter Port.

Dan Taylor is the managing director of Rihoy & Son:

"Through Build for Good, we can offer practical support where it's needed most, and we are excited to work alongside The Drawing Room to deliver meaningful projects like this."

Build for Good is actively seeking donations or fixtures and fittings from local businesses to complete the Guernsey Counselling Service project.
