Aurigny is expanding accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility by introducing electric Aviramps at Southampton and London Gatwick airports.
Aviramps ramps allow passengers to board and disembark without climbing steps, improving comfort, safety, and efficiency for all travellers.
Dave Cox, Aurigny's Deputy Chief Operations Officer says ground staff in the UK are currently being trained, and the ramps are expected to be in use soon.
He says they're already being used at Guernsey Airport.
“By working with Aviramp and Guernsey Ports, we’ve enabled travellers in Guernsey to benefit from smoother, faster, and more dignified boarding experiences.
"I’m pleased to confirm a lot more will benefit from the technology very soon."
Guernsey Ports Airport Director, Richard Thomasson, hopes the ramps will improve the travel experience for passengers both arriving and leaving the island.
Aviramp Chief Executive, Graham Corfield, says they want aviation to be accessible for all.
“We've always believed that good accessibility solutions benefit everyone, not just disabled passengers.
"Our ramps improve safety for all while helping airports operate more efficiently."
Aurigny says 6,000 customers have requested additional assistance over the last twelve months, including families with small children.
