Sheltered workshop GROW says around £700 worth of stock was taken from its premises over the weekend.
GROW, a Guernsey charity supporting adults with learning disabilities, says it has had a difficult start to the week.
Staff returning after the weekend found several sections of its greenhouses empty with a "significant amount" of Hebes, Campanulas, Primroses and Heathers missing, along with some woodchips and compost.
The charity uses an honesty box system, but says around £700 worth of items were taken without payment.
GROW is hoping it was a genuine mistake and is giving those responsible time to pay before handing CCTV footage to police.
General Manager Mandy Mackelworth says the loss is incredibly disappointing.
“Twenty or thirty Hebes have gone, nearly all the Campanulas and lots of other stuff has gone.
“We run an honesty system, like a huge hedge veg, so we have to trust people will pay for their items.
“We know the occasional thing will go missing and I suppose we just have to take that on trust and hope people are honest.
“But this is quite a significant amount, which is really unusual and really disappointing.
“It costs us around £800,000 a year to run GROW, so it’s just a chunk of that which is not here for us to use.”
