Tributes are being paid to John Randall, an early Island FM presenter who has died aged 68 after a short illness.
John Randall has been broadcasting in Guernsey since the late 1980s when he was a presenter on a radio station set up to offer news and entertainment during the annual International Powerboat Week.
The station frequency was 104.7, Island FM's frequency, and four years later Kevin Stewart set up and launched Island FM.
John Randall was there and would help with getting the studios and building ready to go to air.
He had two radio shows, a Soul show midweek show and Randall's Revenge on a Saturday, and both attracted a dedicated audience.
He had a deep appreciation of both soul, jazz and rock music.
He enjoyed a quarter of a decade with the BBC in Guernsey and enjoyed live broadcasting at for example the summer shows.
John was well known in the island community and was a keen fundraiser for multiple causes, often beginning the Cobo Bay Bay Boxing Day.Dip.
Presenter Carl Ward remembers John Randall:
"John was always there to offer advice and support in those early days.
He just loved being on the air.
"I will miss him as a presenter, valued friend and colleague."
John died on Sunday 25 January with close family by his side. He was 68.
