Jersey's Royal Square has been transformed into a huge soup kitchen for the annual fundraisier in aid of the Shelter Trust.
More than 4,000 cups of soups could be served up in the square over the next few hours (13 December).
The Shelter Trust's Soup Kitchen is back, with organisers hoping to return to pre-pandemic levels of donations to support Jersey's homeless.
35 flavours are on offer for a minimum of £3. The soups are donated by hotels, restaurants and supporters.
The Ukrainian community has made a soup as a thank you to the people of Jersey for their support since Russia's invasion of their homeland.
It's a traditional Ukrainian Borsch (beetroot and vegetables)
Another of the soups (celery, stilton and walnut) comes from Government House, and Lieutenant Governor Vice Admiral Jerry Kyd will be helping to serve it.
Bread has been donated by the island's bakeries.
Richard Robins from the charity says it is a real community event:
"Particularly at this time, with the tragedies we have had in the last week, it would be great if people came along to the Royal Square, bought soup, donated funds to the Shelter Trust and felt like they were contributing to the homeless issue in Jersey."
States Members have been invited to take their lunch in the Royal Square during the break from the ongoing States sitting.
There will also be Christmas music and school choirs singing carols.
So far in 2022 the Shelter Trust has helped more than 350 people, and the charity says demand for its services is as great as ever.
The Soup Kitchen will be open until 2.30pm, or until the pans run dry.
