Nearly 7,500 Students Working From Home

Five more Jersey students have tested positive for coronavirus and 7,484 students are now working from home.

That compares to 6,248 working from home on Tuesday 15 December.

Only 24.9% of secondary school students are in the classroom, and primary school attendance has dropped to 52%.

The average attendance across all States-run schools is 40%.

179 teachers are absent for Covid-related reasons along with 224 non-teaching staff.

97 teachers are isolating, shielding, or waiting for a Covid-19 test result, 45 are off ill, and 37 are absent for family reasons.

96 support staff are isolating, shielding, or waiting for a Covid-19 test result, 54 are off ill, and 74 are absent for family reasons.

13 school classes are closed.

Three of the five students confirmed to have tested positive for coronavirus today go to Haute Vallee.

A Grands Vaux pupil and Le Rocquier student have also been diagnosed and are now isolating, along with the rest of their households.

Direct contacts of the affected Haute Vallee and Grand Vaux students have been told to isolate.

Contact Tracing has said no further action is needed at Le Rocquier as the student hasn't been in school.

Three members of the school community who work at Plat Douet, Grouville, and d'Auvergne have tested positive for coronavirus too.

They are isolating at home, along with the rest of their households.

No-one else in those schools been affected as these members of the school community have not been attending school.
