A 35 year old man has been jailed for six years for trying to smuggle heroin into Jersey.
Fabio Candido Simoes, from Portugal, was stopped after arriving on the ferry from Poole in June.
Customs officers didn't believe that he was here for a business meeting.
He had told them owned an e-scooter company in London and was visiting a supplier of bike parts and would be staying with a friend called 'Fred'.
An x-ray found a wrap of 61.32 grams of heroin concealed inside him. The drugs had an estimated street value of £40,000.

Simoes appeared in Jersey's Royal Court today (5 December) for sentencing, and was sent to prison for six years.
Paul Le Monnier, Senior Manager at Jersey Customs and Immigration Service, said:
“Heroin use, and addiction causes huge amounts of harm and misery and it’s important that we prevent these dangerous drugs from reaching our streets.”
