Terry, the female Linne's two-toed sloth at Jersey Zoo, has died after a suspected choking incident.
A postmortem found chewed food stuck in her airway. However, the zoo is waiting for further results.
In a statement, Jersey Zoo says:
"We are heartbroken to announce the sudden and unexpected death of our much-loved female sloth, Terry.
"Terry was much loved by staff, members and visitors and will be hugely missed.
"We appreciate everyone’s kindness and understanding during this time while we process this sad news."

Jemma's 23-year-old father, Rio, also died earlier this year, after a decline in health.
Durrell is monitoring the 10-month-old pup as she adjusts to life without her mother.
As a result, the sloth house will be closed until further notice.
