Guernsey Water says the pipe needed for the Soldier's Bay repair will be transported to the harbour today, 25 September.
In May this year, wastewater from Fort George began leaking from the inspection chamber at Soldier's Bay into the sea, far closer to the beach than it should be for a deep-water outfall.
Although technically closed off, many people swim between St Peter Port and Fermain, a route which passes Soldier's Bay.
Initial water quality tests were poor, but since then it has generally passed as 'excellent.'
Around the same time there were concerns about water cleanliness at nearby La Vallette, although there is no evidence the two were related.
Four months after the leak was noticed, Guernsey Water says a pipe needed for the repairs will be taken from its St Andrews HQ to the harbour today (25 September).
It is planned to begin the repairs on next week's spring tides, as these make the chamber easier to access.
