Warmest Guernsey spring on record

Guernsey has had its warmest spring since records began.

The average temperature between March and May 2026 was 12.3°C, beating the previous record high of 11.4°C in 1893.

There were 682 hours of sunshine and 60.4mm of rainfall over the three months - making it the tenth sunniest and fifth driest ever.

The highest temperature was 31.5°C on Tuesday 26 May, with the lowest 4.5°C on 13 March.

The wettest day was on 2 May, when 11.5mm of rain fell.

It has also been the warmest May ever recorded, with an average temperature of 15.0°C beating the previous record high of 14.3°C in 1848.

There were four consecutive days of temperatures exceeding 30°C towards the end of the month, the earliest heatwave ever recorded in any year.

The earliest tropical night in the year was also recorded in May, with lows of 20.9°C recorded on the 26th and 27th.

The lowest temperature recorded in the month was 5.7°C on 7 May.
