Deputies Lindsay De Sausmarez and Yvonne Burford are resoundingly returned but voters back a swathe of newcomers.
10,721 votes secured the sitting deputy top position, just under 1,300 votes in front of deputy Yvonne Burford, on 9,427.
Deputy Charles Parkinson, who has always pushed for a territorial tax, was returned with 9,294 votes which some suspect gives him a reason to go for the position of head of Policy and Resources in the new Assembly.
Back in are deputies Mark Helyar and Jonathan Le Tocq, who may also have their eyes on the top job.
Three members of the Education Committee have lost their seats, its president Andrea Dudley-Owen secured little more than 5,000 votes.
Deputy Sue Aldwell polled just over 4.600, and Sam Haskins also missed out with 5058 votes.
There was strong support for teacher Paul Montague, who took 8,884 votes.
Forward Guernsey, the only political party, had three candidates returned out of six.
Also out are sitting deputies David De Lisle, John Dyke, Simon Fairclough, Peter Ferbrache, Sam Haskins, Chris Le Tissier, Carl Meerveld, Victoria Oliver and Rob Prow. The latter three were committee presidents.
