Maximum taxi fares will go up by an average of 4.5% from Monday (3).
The increase means that while the maximum fare goes up, the minimum, or standing charge, stays the same.
This increase applies across all tariffs.
For example, a two mile taxi journey on a weekday will increase by 40p, while a 5 mile journey after 10pm at night will increase by 60p
It's the first price rise in a year, although fares went up twice in 2022, first in January, then in April.
