Hottest day of the year so far across the Channel Islands

Temperatures in Jersey will hit the mid 20s but a couple of degrees less in Guernsey.

Almost uninterrupted sunshine is the Jersey Met forecast for the coming two days across the islands.

Temperatures are set to hit the mid 20s celsius in Jersey but a couple of degrees cooler across the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

The early April sun can be strong and the UV index is 5, which means that skin can burn easily.

Winds are from the east, around a force 4, but these will steadily drop through the day.

The pollen count is high and at this time of year that means tree pollen.

Overnight temperatures will just make double figures.

This sunny and warm weather will continue on Wednesday, but on Thursday there will be a sharp drop back in temperatures, with highs just making the early teens, which is average for April in the islands.

The lower temperatures continue into the weekend, with rain possible on Saturday.
