Guernsey Literary Festival to host most events ever

More than 10,000 islanders are expected to take part in the Guernsey Literary Festival this spring.

Now in its 14th year, and coinciding with the National Year of Reading, the Guernsey Literary Festival has revealed a bumper line-up.

Between 23 April and 7 May, there are 80 talks and workshops.

65 will be open to the public, and the rest have been arranged for community groups, schools and the prison.

Festival director, Claire Allen, explains the ethos of the festival: "We want to create opportunities for people of all ages to discover stories, share experiences and connect through reading.

"Our festival is for everybody, and we hope those attending will find something in our programme that speaks to their passions and sparks their imagination."

Claire says this year's offering is diverse: "We've got authors, thinkers and performers spanning literature, history, science, politics, health, nature, business, poetry, music, food writing and comedy.

"So you name it, we hope we have something in the programme for everybody."

Tickets will be on sale soon.
