Deputy Mark Helyar describes a move to change passwords without notice as 'inept.'
The former Treasury lead for Policy and Resources, who is currently in London, used social media to document his frustration.
He told his Facebook followers that last night (27 June) all deputies had their passwords changed without warning.
This, he says, meant he and others were unable to access their gov.gg emails, Teams accounts or any online communication channels.
He says IT does not allow deputies to set their own passwords and so he had to call a service desk and he wrote the new passcode on the back of a menu. He says without warning, 'someone has completely shut down government communications.'
He describes the move as 'inept' and 'an utter, utter shambles.'
Island FM has approached the States for comment.
