Krisanth Moodliar entered a horse drawing into the Blue Cross’s new national art competition, Paws to Draw.
Paws to Draw aims to raise awareness of the growing number of homeless pets and the work of the Blue Cross.
Participants were tasked to read about rehoused animals and get creative.
More than a thousand entries were received by the charity, and seven winners from across the UK were selected.
3-year-old Krisanth Moodliar, from Guernsey, was selected as the Channel Islands winner.
His mum, Selina Moodliar, says he was inspired by a horse named Robin, who was abandoned on a roadside as a foal.
“Kris loves horses and chose to draw Robin after I read Robin's biography to him.
"We looked at his photograph and took a whole day to sketch the outlines.
"Then Kris wanted to make him a rainbow horse and that turned out to be a great idea.”
Wendy Hill from the Blue Cross says they were very impressed.
“We’re thrilled with the response we’ve had to the Paws to Draw competition and all the wonderful drawings we received.
"We all love Kris’s picture of Robin the rainbow horse.
"It is vibrant, creative and brought a smile to all our faces.”
Krisanth will receive a framed picture of his work.
