Deputy Yvonne Burford has gone public on X about the sale of Octopus at Havelet.
The previous tenants of Octopus, the restaurateur couple Mike and Delphine Pesrin, bought the site at the bottom of the Val des Terres for the nominal sum of £1, last month.
It is in a prime location, with sea views across Havelet Bay and across to Herm, Jethou and Sark.
The land was owned by deputy Yvonne Burford, who has now clarified her position by writing on X.
She says dealing with the aftermath of the fire has been time consuming, complex and difficult, and cites issues with insurance, the lease and 'various obligations and costings.'
As president of the Planning Authority, she says she'll remove herself from discussions on any future planning application for the site.
