Cameras to roll on new Guernsey Occupation film in February 2027

Hollywood producer Gene Fallaize talks exclusively to Island FM about the difficulty of making a major film on island.

Under the Watchful Gaze - a World War Two film about the occupation of Guernsey - was due to start filming in the Bailiwick this summer.

This has now been delayed until February 2027.

Director Gene Fallaize spoke exclusively to Island FM and revealed the project was close to being filmed in another location.

"We have had to delay production because there are a lot of other incentives around the world, from places that want us to film there.

"They offer things that Guernsey can't, mostly related to money.

"But I've said right from the start, the key thing about the whole production is that it's Guernsey's story.

"It's Guernsey's occupation and what it was like, and it can't be done anywhere else.

"Having grown up here, I've got, you know, my heels are long enough to dig in far enough to insist upon that."

Roles, including for local actors, have already been cast.

Gene has promised to keep Island FM and our audience updated as it moves into the production stage.
