Aurigny plane makes emergency landing after leaving Guernsey

The ATR diverted to Southampton, and landed without incident, after a windscreen cracked in flight.

The GR678 left Guernsey just after 5 yesterday afternoon, operated by G-ORAI, one of the ATRs 72-600s owned by Aurigny.

Flight Radar 24 showed it had radioed an emergency and was diverting to Southampton airport.

Aurigny has confirmed that a cockpit windscreen had cracked in flight and says it is standard operating procedure to request an emergency landing.

The plane touched down normally, no one was injured and the passengers were taken by bus to Manchester.

A second Aurigny ATR flew to Manchester yesterday evening to collect passengers who were waiting for their Guernsey flight.
