More than 20 people have shown an interest in volunteering at La Moye Prison.
A recent appeal by the prison for people to help inmates cope with a variety of everyday situations has been successful.
The volunteers will help teach literacy and numeracy, home maintenance, first aid and building motivation and confidence.
Head of Learning and Skills, Dr David Holmes, hopes more people will come forward:
“Volunteers can make a very real difference in helping to support prisoners going through a difficult time in their lives. Whatever your interests, experience or skills, we have a role for you, and we will train, mentor and support you in whatever role you choose to do.”
If you're interested in volunteering, you can contact David at the prison on 01534 441886.
