An abuse support organisation in Jersey is closing its cafe.
The Butterfly cafe is closing its doors on Saturday, 2 August 2025, to focus on people in the community who need their help the most.
Its parent organisation, The Butterfly Effect, has helped more than 900 islanders since 2023.
Due to a growing demand and limited resources, it is streamlining its services so it can offer more people its core support.
A spokesperson says its mission is to provide critical support for those who urgently need it, which is often difficult to find elsewhere.
"The Café has played a valuable role in both awareness and community engagement.
"We are deeply grateful to all of our customers and the amazing team who helped make the Café a success.
"While this has been a difficult decision, we know it’s the right one."
The Butterfly Effect opened its cafe two years ago to help survivors of abuse get back on their feet and rebuild their confidence in the community.
It also advocated for children in care and care leavers, offering support groups, a chance to earn money and advocacy services.
However, the team is not ruling out the possibility of opening a new space in the future, but for now, it wants to focus on strengthening its services.
The Butterfly Effect works alongside local agencies and provides support through trauma-informed specialists, including professionals with lived experience.
The organisation is currently awaiting confirmation of its application for charitable status.
