Temporary lights on Rouge Bouillon removed

The temporary traffic lights that have been in place on Rouge Bouillon since the start of June have been removed, after work to make an unstable wall safe was completed.

The lights were put in place between Drury Lane and Palmyra Road because of concerns that the wall was at risk of collapsing onto the footpath and road.

This led to long tailbacks along the road, particularly at school-run time.

The owners of the affected properties were originally given four weeks to carry out works to make the wall safe, and when they didn't, the deadline was extended for another fortnight.

The Regulation Department then exercised its powers under the law to carry out the work, after saying sufficient progress hadn't been made to address it.

In a post on social media, the Infrastructure Department thanked islanders for their patience.

Channel 103 has been told the government will not pay for the work.
