A 19-year-old man died in St Lawrence earlier this year from the toxic effects of MDMA, an inquest has concluded.
James Le Bourgeois took the illicit drug at a house party he hosted on 14 February 2020.
The inquest heard that James and two of his friends took MDMA, which James said 'hit him hard.'
At around 2:30am on the morning of 15 February he collapsed - with a friend then calling for an ambulance reporting a suspected overdose.
James, described as a conscientious and popular young man, was pronounced dead a short time later.
It was revealed that the concentration of MDMA in his blood was around five times higher than levels associated with recreational use.
A post-mortem showed no evidence of an assault or accidental injury - concluding that there was no other contributory factor to his death.
Relief Coroner, Dr. Martin Barrett, said this highlights the dangers of taking illicit drugs - and urged people not to wait to call the emergency services if there are concerns about someone's safety.
No criminal charges have been brought in relation to the incident.
His death has not been treated as suspicious.
