A seven and half hour tow of a 96 tonne fishing vessel was the latest rescue in a busy week for Jersey's RNLI.
The St Helier All-weather boat was called to rescue the broken down 17 metre vessel.
It had got its rudder caught on fishing gear ten miles west of Corbiere and its position meant it was a hazard to other boats.
The crew arrived on scene on Tuesday afternoon (30 August) in force 5-6 northeasterly winds.
Attempts to free the rudder were unsuccessful, and there were fears the boat would begin to take on water.
Wind and tide conditions were such that it took seven and half hours to tow the 96 tonne boat back to shore.
The Ports of Jersey workboat Halcyon was used to move the vessel, and its 15 feet of fishing gear caught underneath, onto its berth.
In the past week Jersey's RNLI's picked up a two people stranded at Seymour tower after being cut off by the rising tide, two stricken yachts and the Dragonfish row team who were struggling in in rough seas while training for their transatlantic challenge.
