Spaghetti and ale on the menu at Gorey Fete

Gorey Fete is back in its spaghetti-eating and ale-chugging glory.

Gates open at 10am, and there are stalls, games, fair rides, live music, contests, and food and drink.

There will be a silent disco and a fancy-dress competition.

The ever-popular spaghetti-eating competition is at 7.30 pm, and the yard of ale contest begins at 8pm.

Organiser Lester Richardson says the pier completely fills up:

"There was a guy one year who won the spaghetti competition, and then he went and did the yard of ale. I'm not quite sure how, but he certainly did it.

"He didn't look that great afterwards, to be fair!"

Despite rain in the forecast, organisers have reassured islanders that the 'show will go on' no matter the weather.

Lester said:

"We've done it in the rain and the drizzle.

"There's so much to set up that we can't move the date, so it will carry on no matter what."

The firework finale will go ahead, with rockets set off from a barge at sea.

Entry costs £7 for over 16s, £3 for children and is free for under 5s..

Money raised at the 2026 Gorey Fete will go to local charities including BeachAbility, Normandy Rescue and the Jersey Heart Support Group.
