Tributes are being paid to Sir David Kirch ahead of his funeral today.
A private funeral service will take place at Gouray Church today (9 April) at 2 pm, to commemorate the life of a Jersey philanthropist who gave millions to the islands' less fortunate and elderly.
The church service will be by invitation only, however, the funeral service will be live streamed and those wishing to attend this are invited to meet at the Rocco Tower Suite, Radisson Blu Hotel, St Helier Waterfront.
In 2012, he announced that he would be leaving his entire £100 million fortune to charity.
A year later was knighted in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
He passed away earlier this year, aged 89.
READ: Jersey philanthropist remembered as a 'truly remarkable man'
Islanders are remembering all that he did for the people of Jersey.
Ian said:
"I recall walking past the Salvation Army one Christmas and they were doing a Christmas lunch for people who needed a lunch, and he was there.
"So, it wasn't just the money, he wanted to be there with people who maybe don't get a good lunch very often.
"A truly remarkable man that we will never see the likes of again.
"Sadly, people who have the most money are most miserly; some men are just giants amongst us.
"One of the truly sad things about Jersey is that there is more poverty than is widely recognised."
Others added that he, and all he did, will be in their thoughts, with many saying they would like to see a statue or memorial.
Donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Sir David may be sent to Age Concern Jersey, JE2 4ET.
