The Duchess of Edinburgh will visit the island for two days on the 23 June.
Duchess Sophie, the wife of Prince Edward, will learn about sustainable practices in Jersey’s farming and fishing industries, and the work being done to educate young people about where their food comes from.
Her Royal Highness is Honorary President of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) which counts Jersey Dairy and the Jersey Royal Company among its members.
Sophie will meet representatives from Jersey’s dairy and potato industries.
Jersey Dairy was the first dairy in the world to hold the LEAF Marque on its milk packaging whilst, every year the Jersey Royal Company takes part in Open Farm Sunday, inviting the public into its potato fields as part of the LEAF Demonstrator Farm initiative to show what goes into growing and harvesting local produce.
HRH will also met people from Jersey’s seafood and fishing industry.
The Duchess of Edinburgh was last in the Channel Islands last December, when she visited Alderney for the 80th anniversary of Homecoming Day.
While in Jersey, she will attend a reception at Government House in support of the NSPCC of which she has been patron since 2016. She will also visit visual impairment charity EYECAN as part of its 140th anniversary celebrations.
