Motorists will continue to face delays and heavy traffic on the St Helier ring road for at least another week as a stretch of Rouge Bouillon stays closed.
More investigations need to take place to see the full extent of the damage to the property damaged when a sinkhole opened up on 18 December.
In an update on Thursday (9 January), the government said the situation is very 'complex'.
Rouge Bouillon will remain shut between Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road.
A burst water main caused a sinkhole under the main road, leading to severe cracks in the wall of a property and adjoining walls.
The Infrastructure & Environment department is against reversing the direction of any of the surroundings roads to avoid putting pedestrians and residents in unsafe situations.
It also believes changing the direction of Midvale or Clarendon Roads will cause more unnecessary traffic and confusion in other areas of the ring road.
The government said:
"The safety of islanders remains the top priority, and the closure will stay in effect until it is deemed safe to reopen."
Islanders are advised to keep avoiding the area and use alternative routes in and around town where possible.
Key teams working on the issues are meeting regularly and another update will be given on Thursday 16 January 2025.
