Part of Rouge Bouillon will remain closed when schools reopen on Monday (6 January), and until further notice.
There is no date for reopening the affected stretch of road that has been shut since a burst water main caused a sink hole more than a fortnight ago.
The pipe was quickly repaired by Jersey Water, but the damage caused cracks in a building on the corner of Clarendon Road.
Concerns remain over its safety.
The building has been vacated, and is being monitored closely by surveyors for its risk of collapse.
The government says it is in talks with the owners of the property and their insurers to find a resolution that can allow the road to reopen.
"Until the building is considered safe and a course of action has been agreed by all parties involved, Rouge Bouillon (between Clarendon Road and Palmyra Road) will remain closed until further notice."
Diversions remain in place. Clarendon Road remains open southbound towards town.
Motorists should continue to allow extra time for their journey as delays are expected, especially with the return of the daily commute next week following the Christmas break.
Schools in the area will open as normal next week, with parents advised to check their emails for updates.
