Damian Smail, from the St Helier RNLI station, has set himself the challenge of riding 200 miles for the RNLI's 200-year celebrations.
The mechanic, who has volunteered with the RNLI for six and a half years, and his friend John Vibert will cycle around the island's dirt tracks, bridal ways, and cliff paths.
80% of the route is off-road, making the challenge all that more gruelling.
Damian says he wanted to combine his passion for his hobby and his job.
"It would be quite demanding but it wouldn't be called a challenge if it was easy, it should be a good test for our fitness and just how far we can push ourselves so it should be fun."
The pair want to raise £5,000 for the RNLI, as Damian believes the charity does so much for the island, especially in the summer months.
"RNLI Lifeguards provide a beach lifeguard service at St Ouen, St Brelade's Bay, Plémont and Grève de Lecq.
