Pubs can stay open until 2am to show some World Cup games

Bars in Jersey will be allowed to stay open until 2am to show some World Cup games.

The Bailiff is allowing licence extensions for live matches with a kick off time of up to 11pm.

It has been agreed with the police, providing larger venues of more than 60 patrons have at least two registered door staff to deal with any disorderly behaviour.

Applications will need to be made to the Bailiff's Chambers and the following conditions must be met:

● The latest scheduled screening is 23:00. Bars are permitted to remain open until 02:00 the following morning with last orders at 01:30 and all patrons to leave by 02:00.

● Licensed premises applying for the extension must screen scheduled World Cup matches for that day and not replay matches.

● Licensed premises exceeding the capacity of 60 patrons must provide at least 2 door staff that are registered by the Justice and Home Affairs Department.

The 2026 World Cup, hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico, begins on 11 June.

Due to the time difference, many of the games will be played overnight for British audiences.
