Person rescued from a blaze at a flat in Jersey

A fire at a flat in St Helier has been put out after reports of smoke visible from the property.

A resident was still inside when fire crews arrived at around 10:30pm last night (27 April).

Two fire engines and nine firefighters were dispatched.

The person was removed from the third floor of the building and is reportedly unharmed.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze.

Jersey Fire & Rescue is urging islanders to regularly test their smoke detectors.
