Parents still in hospital following suspected explosion at Mont Pinel

The parents who were injured during the incident at Mont Pinel last week are still in hospital.

That's according to Jersey Fire and Rescue who say the family, as well as those displaced, are continuing to be supported by the government.

The incident happened on Wednesday 26 June, when emergency services were called after a loud bang was heard at around 11pm.

A house at Mont Pinel partially-collapsed, leading to two young children being rescued, unharmed, by officers.

The parents in the family home required further attention and were taken to hospital, after being found by emergency services 'under rubble'.

We're told that at the weekend, 29 June - 30 June, residents forced to evacuate their homes were let back inside their properties to collect their belongings.

They are also being supported by Jersey's government in conjunction with insurance companies.

We're told work has now begun to stabilise the property impacted by the suspected explosion last Wednesday night.

This follows Island Energy stating no gas escape was detected in their investigation, which they finished last week.

Structural support is expected to be installed by the end of this week, when we're told investigations from Jersey Fire and Rescue service into the the cause of the suspected explosion will be able to begin.

The team has thanked the States of Jersey Police and Honorary Police officers for their work in manning police cordons so far, and ensuring islanders' safety.
