Nursery to move into Les Creux Pavilion

Les Creux Community Hub and Nursery has been chosen as preferred bidder for the Pavilion in St Brelade.

It follows a year long search for a tenant to operate the former bowls club for the community.

New tenant sought for Les Creux Pavilion

In March 2025, the government said it was looking for someone to take over the empty building.

It was originally built in the early 2000s to serve as Jersey's international bowls venue, but closed in 2024 due to lack of membership.

The site is 4,023 square feet and consists of the pavilion building - with a kitchen and bar, changing rooms and bathrooms, two bowl greens and parking.

Jersey Property Holding said it wanted  the pavilion to 'serve the local community' by providing meeting and events spaces and sporting activities.

Over the past 12 months, the Infrastructure Minister has repeatedly been asked about the progress on finding a tenant.

In February, Constable Andy Jehan the search was ongoing because Jersey Community Land Trust had pulled out.

Co-founder  Xanthe Hamilton told Channel 103 it has encountered issues during the tender process.

Today (24 March), Constable Jehan announced Les Creux Community Hub and Nursery has been selected as preferred bidder.

He said a lease still needs to be agreed and permission for a change of use, but he's confident of things now progressing:

"We're hopeful that this will become a great community asset again, and for people like myself who walk my dog at Les Creux from time to time, hopefully I will be able to have a cup of tea when I get back from my dog walk.

Deputy Andy Howell sought clarification on who will be moving on:

"Can I just ask, is it a nursery for plants or is it a nursery for children?

"It's for growing little children."
