New vibrant town workspace brings together desks with disco balls

A new collaborative work space in St Helier is hoping to create a vibrant community of co workers and friends.

'House of Champions' houses a podcast studio, stocked kitchen, work booths, and meeting spaces.

Unlike your standard office, it is brightly coloured with plants, neon signs, disco balls, and desks.

Memberships are tiered, giving access to specific areas that different people will need for their type of work; they can also be shared with friends or colleagues.

House of Champions says it wants to position itself to meet the needs of women who are building businesses alongside the needs of a family, who want to work on their own terms, often on their own or in very small teams, but also want to belong to a community of like-minded people.

Founder Fiona Wylie says she wants it to become both a working and a social space:

"I want it to be really inclusive; it's not for one type of person.

"I want it to feel like a really creative space. We've tried to make it work so you feel together, but you can still get on with your work and get it done.

"We all have seen the benefits of working from home, but getting together and being with like-minded people, networking and getting those coffee moments, are really special, especially when you're growing something."
