A man who was found with blood all over his hands after attacking his partner with a cleaver has been convicted of grave and criminal assault following a five-day trial in Jersey's Royal Court.
Luis Abreu Dos Santos (48) was accused of attempted murder, but the jury hearing the case failed to reach a unanimous of majority verdict.
Dos Santos was convicted on the lesser charge.
The victim needed surgery after suffering significant head, arm, and neck injuries.
