Sark won't be left in the dark after all.
It's understood an agreement has been reached in the early hours of this morning between the tiny island's government and the power provider in a row over pricing which threatened to result in a blackout from midnight tonight.
Generators had been shipped to Sark in preparation for homes being left without heat, light and water.
Sark Electricity had said it would pull the plug the all 500 residents at midnight because it had been forced to reduce tariffs.
Director David Gordon-Brown said the company was losing £20,000 a month as a result.
The impending power shutdown has been averted by last-minuted negotiations, with the government confirming its intention to purchase the energy company within a matter of months.
