Lifeboat called to five kayakers in difficulty

Five kayakers have been helped to safety after getting into difficulty near Noirmont Point.

Jersey Lifeboat Association was launched on Thursday evening (4 September) to reports of a group in difficulty, with one in the water.

The inshore lifeboat was on the scene within five minutes  - despite difficult sea conditions  - and found two people on the rocks and three still afloat in their kayaks.

With the two people on the rocks confirmed to be safe and uninjured, the lifeboat crew escorted the three kayakers back to Becroute Bay, where they had launched from.

Jersey Fire and Rescue assisted from the shore.

JLA said:

"This was a fast-paced, multi-agency incident carried out in testing conditions, but thanks to quick responses and effective teamwork, it resulted in a positive outcome for all involved.

"We would like to commend the kayaking group for being well-prepared and properly equipped with essential safety gear, including lifejackets and helmets; which played a key role in ensuring everyone’s safety."
