Islands Unlimited is exploring running a vehicle ferry between Guernsey and Jersey.
It is asking islanders whether they would use the service, how often, and what would make it worthwhile.
It says the ferry could run three to four times a week, and mean passengers could bring their own car rather than travel as foot passengers, but adds, that 'nothing has been decided'.
Earlier this month, senior politicians from Jersey and Guernsey met to discuss the islands' travel connections, with sea and air links a contentious subject.
In April, Guernsey rejected plans for DFDS to operate an inter-islands ferry service. Also this year, its licensing authority refused LoganAir permission to operate inter-islands flights, giving States-owned Aurigny a monopoly on the route following the collapse of Blue Islands.
Jersey's Economic Development Minister Gerald Voisin told us one option being explored is talking to Normandy-based Manche Iles.
Islands Unlimited's second year of seasonal sailings were suspended early due to an engine problem with its San Pawl vessel. Guernsey's States have given the firm £225,000 in taxpayer funding over the two years.
Brittany Ferries continues to operate a Guernsey-Jersey sailing on Wednesdays.
Politicians on both sides said that, while the situation 'remains challenging', they'll work together to find ways to improve sea connectivity between the islands.
