Funding For Jersey Jubilee Celebration Projects

More than £80,000 has been awarded to projects in Jersey that will celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

The Jersey Community Foundation created the 'Platinum Jubilee Lottery Fund' in January 2022 to support schemes that are marking community celebrate Her Majesty's 70 year reign.

18 projects have each been given funding ranging from £1,000 to £5,000.

They include Girlguiding Jersey holding a party to bring all 356 members of girlguiding and members of the Trefoil Guild together.

The Queen is Girlguiding's patron.

Jersey Heritage will use its funding for a project, called the King Charles II experience, to show the island's historical part in restoring the monarchy.

"The close link between King Charles II, Jersey and the present Queen have never been fully told and the importance to the crown of this small island and the events of the 17th century when the world was turned upside down meant that Jersey was at the very heart of the biggest changes England had ever seen." - Michelle Hervieu, Project Lead.

There will also be a Joint Cadet celebration and a Jubilee celebration at Gouray Church.

JCF CEO Anna Terry says they were delighted with the 'enthusiastic response' to their call for applications.

"Each of the projects being funded is a unique opportunity to celebrate this momentous occasion and they are all varied and inclusive to ensure that the whole Island has an opportunity to take part."
