A free Portuguese short film screening 'Film Luso' is forming part of the 13th Parish Film Festival.
It's part of 'Project Luso', which is delivering community events across Jersey, celebrating and promoting Portuguese culture.
On Wednesday 20 May, 'everyone is invited' to a free, open-air screening at Romerils carpark.
Children's films start at 5.30 pm, and films for an older audience - that are still appropriate for children- begin at 7.30 pm.
Audiences are invited to bring seating, stay for just one film (around 15 mins) or for the whole evening. All films are spoken in Portuguese with English subtitles.
They have been curated by Miguel Dias, Director of the Portuguese Short Film Agency.
There will be cod croquettes, pastel de natas and popcorn, and islanders are encouraged to bring and share Portuguese food and snacks.
Sasha Gibb works in the arts and is leading Film Luso:
"We want to celebrate and make Portuguese culture more visible.
"It's one of Jersey's great wonders for me and something that I'm immensely pleased about, that we have this great community.
"I've been chatting a lot to the communities, going into schools, young people, old people, cafes, prisons, and to have a community whose priorities are family, culture, food, coffee, what more could you ask for?
"An incredibly hardworking, appreciative community."
Film Luso is part of the 13th Parish Film Festival (May 18-24) and the Festival of Words (18-27 September).
It is guest-curated by Agencia Curtas Metragen, the agency for the Portuguese short film industry, who are coming to Jersey to introduce the films and spend time with students at Haute Vallee school.
