Decision Day For The Hospital

A decision is expected this lunchtime on whether Jersey's new hospital has planning permission.

Environment Minister Deputy John Young will announce if he approves of the revised design for the current site in Gloucester Street.

The first one was deemed too big for the area.

Former minister Deputy Steve Luce refused permission on the advice of an independent planning inspector.

The fresh application was made for a shorter, wider building. It was the subject if a second public inquiry.

Philip Staddon gave his report to Deputy Young a month ago.

The Minister is due to announce his decision at midday.

The Chief Minister has promised a States Assembly vote on whether building on the current site will go ahead.
